“Stay strong...because the storm will pass and then the rainbow will emerge.” #unknown⠀ ⠀ As many of you know I live in Los Angeles, and it honestly only rains here once every 6 to 8 months. 🙄 However, when it does rain you’d assume the residents of LA county had never seen rain before. No one leaves their house unless they absolutely have to, people drive worse than normal, and everyone’s mood becomes a strange adaptation of Eeyore’s melancholy disposition. Needless to say I do not enjoy when it rains in southern California. ⠀ ⠀ However, yesterday after I was driving home from work, and on the phone with a close friend to distract myself from the long commute, when I just happened to look in my rear view mirror. Behind me I saw clear skies and sunshine, but in front of me was a blanket of fog, dark clouds and red traffic lights as far as the eye could see. It legit looked like the end of days. 🙈⠀ ⠀ In that moment something became crystal clear to me. In order to get to the place I needed to be I had to continue in the direction of the storm. Though everything behind me looked so inviting and pretty the reality is that’s not where I was meant to be anymore. {mind blown} So often we find ourselves getting comfortable with the space we’re in. We allow ourselves to get wrapped up in the way things are “supposed” to look or “supposed” to be, and because of this we stay in situations that were only meant to be a stepping stone to our actual destination. ⠀ ⠀ And the irony of ALL ironies is that once I got past a certain portion of my commute not only had the dark clouds completely cleared up, but the sky was gorgeous and looked even more inviting than the one I had left behind. ⠀ ⠀ I don’t know who needs to hear this, or what you’re going through, but I do know that storms are inevitable. We will always have to fight through battles in life to reach our fullest potential, and then we’ll have to do it again. Moral of the story - Don’t quit. Don’t give up. Just keep pushing forward.
